USAT National Challenge Competition

Information

USAT National Challenge Competition

The National Challenge Competition is open to USA Triathlon member clubs and individual athletes.

The USA Triathlon National Challenge Competition is an off-season competition between USAT member clubs across the United States.

Since 2006, clubs have been swimming, running and biking against each other during December, January and February.

It's winter. Your next race could be months away... how do you stay motivated to train and keep fit over the off-season months?

The USA Triathlon National Challenge Competition was designed with one idea in mind: keeping triathletes motivated and active during the off-season. Triathlon clubs from around the country go head-to-head from December to February by logging training miles in all three disciplines.

There are three sessions: Swim (December), Bike (January) and Run (February). During each session everyone trains in all 3 disciplines, but awards are given for the team and athletes with the most mileage for that month's discipline and again for the overall competition.

Clubs compete in Divisions according to club size, so even smaller clubs have a chance to win prizes. There are also prizes awarded to individual athletes in each session and overall.

All stats are tracked in real time, as they are entered, so you can always see how your club is doing and how you are doing against others in your club and across the country.

***To be able to input your own training, you'll need to be added to the club (on the challenge site).

Here's how: Method 1: post on here - Name, age, USAT#, email or Method 2: email that same info to bencoy60@gmail.com

After that, you'll get an email with a password that allows you access to the site to log your training.***

quick recap...the first two months of the challenge are done, and here's a few of our stats:

members signed up: 39 (still room for up to 75)

swim session (December): 29 members logged swim yards, and the club ended up 12th of 17 clubs in Division 1 (clubs with 250+ members)
*at the end, one of the 29 people that logged swim yardage will win a $25 RockNRoad gift card*

bike session (January): 22 members logged swim yards, and the club ended up 13th of 17 clubs in Division 1

*at the end, one of the 22 people that logged swim yardage will win a $25 RockNRoad gift card*

run session (February): there's still time to sign up and qualify for the $25 gift card drawing. With many of you running Surf City this past Sunday, we should be off to a good start for the month.

Happy training!

the swim month is almost done....still time to get in another swim session or catch up on logging your workouts. The window to log swim miles will close on 1/2/15.

Next up is bike month. get out and start riding on that shiny new bike that santa brought you.

So glad to do my part with the swim in December. :-/. Had USAT tracked dining out or wine consumed, we would've clinched December.

12/26 update:
it looks like we stalled at 38 people....we need more people to sign up. We have 32 people that have logged workouts, and these people will be eligible for the $25 RockNRoad gift card raffle when we have the December drawing next week. There's still time to sign up for December, and of course, the remainder of the challenge.

12/16 update;
still only 38 signed up, and 31 logging miles, and 28 logging swim miles.
With an active membership of about 300, you'd think it'd be easier to get at lest 75 people to sign up. Let's go people!!

as of this morning, for the swim mileage, OC Tri Club is 12 of 17 in Division 1 (large clubs), and we are 3rd of 7 in the Southwest region.

12/10 Update
We have 36 (of 75 possible) signed up, and 29 have logged miles.

For swimming, in the Southwest, we are 3rd out of 7.
For swimming, in Division 1 (250 members+), we are 12th of 17.

We just need to get more people signed up. Peer pressure works great, let's get going.
